At The Precipice

I STAND SURE at the precipice… believing that a bridge will appear as I open to a vast expanse of that which is yet to be.

My self-imposed hiatus for the last two months has ended. Finding my feet again I have been guided to walk a path illuminated by hope, love, and faith… the necessary ingredients for a process of chemicalization. Today I rebirth harmonic frequencies and align energies of delicate awareness and heightened consciousness. And not a moment too soon!

Today’s ‘3.3.3’ marks another multidimensional portal as the trinity of knowingness, consciousness and light vibrates our inner and outer worlds. I feel recalibrated joy with intuition pulsating within the ocean of infinite potentialities. During this phase, we beings of the earth will be able to access gifts of empathy and telepathy more clearly. For instance, as intuitive modes of being unfold, a new appreciation for the energy ‘behind’ words will ground a greater sense of meaning far beyond our mental capacities. As with the brilliance of the universal language of music, the spaces between notes, or the silence between words, will become equally as important. As we seize the signs of new life marked by the March Equinox take a moment to be in silence and to feel the synergy of Love.

MARCHing onward with sweet attentiveness the opportunities abound to absorb this next light-giving portal for any and all tuned to its extensive promise. I am inspired to redouble my efforts to follow my passion, purpose and authentic expression. I have been solidly immersed in the study of theories, techniques and all manner of enlightenment with such luminaries as Wayne Dyer, Doreen Virtue, Robert Anthony, Carolynn Myss, Gregg Braden, Jane Roberts (Seth) and Anita Patik-Law to name only a few.

My spiritual education has exploded a long buried memory that held me prisoner to a particularly old, non-serving belief and negative pattern. I will weave the details of this exorcism… quite possibly my greatest awakening… in the next ‘Soulscapes’ telecourse (dates to be confirmed). However for now, let me say that I have come to recognize profound connectivity to my relationships with the self to the SELF and to Divine Mystery.

I am deeply committed to letting go of conditioned labels such as ‘victim’ and reframe past experiences wherein the ‘enemies’ are in reality my ‘teachers’. For this I am truly thankful. As my energy integration continues I am busy aligning new identity within a distinct appreciation for greater balance. This process has enlivened a fire within… it has strengthened my passion to empower, heal and serve humanity, the planet, and our universe.

I believe wholeheartedly that as I heal the wounds of my past, or at least aspects of my own misunderstanding, sense of separateness or illusion, I am a conduit for individual and generational change. As I share my healing and evolution … so too another… and in so doing, the ripple of change from one to another reverberates in mysterious fullness. This personal viewpoint underscores my dedication to Namaste consciousness… an honouring of our oneness and interconnectedness to all that is.

Today, in a moment of reprieve from my self exile, I chose to visit a favourite haunt today… a place that has endeared itself to me over many years. This Café is frequented by all manner of artists… those whom often choose to walk the path less travelled. I am at home in spaces where relationships collide in beautiful creative flow. I feel an openness and acceptance with these fellows… a community of more-or-less like minded souls that reflect the movement of cultural evolution and that of living an inspired life. Ah sweet divine mystery… the magic of the ‘space between’ on the continuum of existence! You might say that this place offers one an opportunity to dwell in a sea of energystic change.

SO the stage is set, and with a greater sense of my true essence and authenticity, I Stand Sure at the precipice of change… below lies the geography of unknowingness… of non-imagined tomorrows where limitlessness potential waits in the wings… where all possibility easily flows… as only a void could offer.

In this space and time, I am open-hearted and empty-handed in a posture of humbled perspective. I dare to go where this mere mortal has never gone before. This is my time to believe in myself and my gifts… to trust in Source… the Creator… God… whatever you like. This is where the rubber hits the road. This is where I walk my talk!

Time to MARCH onward! In the next two months it is my desire to embrace my greatest fears or doubts and completely dismantle and rebuild. This will make room for the next ‘what’s next?’ In silence I honour the climb to this summit and with a grateful heart I bless the learning provided through the experiences of my life. With the vulnerable nakedness of nonknowing I proceed as the initiate… as the spiritual warrior.

Thank you teachers… my lacks, fears, doubts, worries, resentments, frustrations, anger and sadness… I salute your tenacity and let you go the best I can in this moment. I resonate within the complex web of life knowing the passage ahead will leave no stone unturned. I will go quietly into the night.

It is my intention to blog regular updates to share my new found realities. Follow me as I embark of the journey of a lifetime.

In joy I STAND SURE, and so can you!

What’s your SOULType?

Posted by: Janis Mansbridge

December 8th, 2009 >> Uncategorized

I can hear it now… across the nation… or heck… across the world, the new pick up line … “what’s your soul type good lookin’?”  After your chuckles have subsided, you have to admit that it gets your attention.

I would have to say that I am a ‘serious’ soul type!  And you?  I’m sure you’re now searching your mind trying to surmise the clues that indicate a soul type?  Well, just when you think you’ve got it all figured out… you don’t!

I recall the very day that I felt, truly felt, my soul.  It was late September just before I turned 12. It wasn’t a thought, it was a feeling.  A feeling that I recognized flowed through me.  If anyone had asked, I might have said it was God, because that was the name that our family used.  I was aware though, that this ‘sense’ was something else.  I felt a deep sense of love.  I felt this urge, or nudge, or opening, as I walked along an old worn path between the fields near where I was raised.  It took me by surprise.  Also, around that same time, I had a new found awareness for the night sky… the stars and planets of our solar system.  In my alone time I began to wonder about life. It was as though I was ‘waking up’ to something.  I was in awe as I began to take in the expanse above me… around me…  and I recall a feeling of insignificance in juxtaposition with an unfamiliar importance because somehow – I was connected to it all.  I remember thinking… there must be more… this can’t be all there is!  I was coming of age.  I have simply accepted myself a spiritual being living a human existence ever since.

Having gone to Sunday school as a young child I had learned about the 23rd Psalm and Jesus and God.  I think I was more interested in playing with the other kids than listening to the stories we were told.  After much deliberation, I concluded the place to start was with God because HE had something to do with life and death, and because I had heard whispers of ‘life after death’ on the Merv Griffin or Mike Douglas Show.  Was the old man in the sky talking to ME somehow?

Since I had recently been given permission to go to the library to do research on my geography project, I could simply go find out about how this feeling I had related to God.  I was quite driven to investigate this feeling and how it related to my early religious training.  There I was, a wisp of a thing, quietly looking at the card index starting at R-Religion, and trying not to draw any attention to myself because it felt as though I needed to keep my feeling a secret.  I wondered what the librarian might say, so with my biggest, most confident, grown-up girl stride, I approached the desk, and looking directly at the creepy grey haired lady I didn’t bat an eye when she said, “Are you sure these are the books you want?”  She couldn’t have known my indwelling suspense as I slipped two psychology books about reincarnation and past life regression into my bag – along with the book about Peru of course.  I could hardly contain my enthusiasm.  I read them both twice and contemplated life.  It sounds amusing now, but, I was so serious about this thing called Soul.  That was the beginning of my inner knowing about Soul and what was to become a life journey… my life’s calling. Those volumes shaped me in ways I can never truly express.

Throughout my life learning… my soul learning if you will… this innate ‘knowing’ or ‘essence’ captured my passionate heart and influenced all of my relationships and career choices along the way.

That same feeling of wonder remains strong to this day and as a dedicated spiritual initiate I still love to research everything SOUL. These days, I frequent both physical and on-line libraries scouring the stacks to uncover new concepts to feed my soul, gain insight, knowledge and understanding.  That I have officially hung out my virtual sign as a Soul Worker (for everyday people), its as though I was destined to follow this path.  It resonates with my most authentic self, and has strengthened my commitment to encouraging and empowering others in the discovery of the secret garden of their soul.

“Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there
is no path and leave a trail.”
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

In fact, at the local library a few weeks ago, I was helping a friend research their latest personal development adventure, when a book pretty near jumped off the shelves into my waiting hands.  My eyes lit up as I read the title, SOULTypes, Matching Your Personality and Spiritual Path written by authors, Sandra Krebs Hirsh and Jane A.G. Kise.  I have been busy absorbing the text since.

The book is an excellent reference for educators, personal development coaches or counsellors, or those individuals that have a desire to deepen their relationship with Source (Creator, God, etc.) by adopting more significant practices as they follow their own unique spiritual path.  The book is not written for the spiritually faint of heart… or, those brothers and sisters that may not yet recognize the importance of their soul and the spiritual aspects of their life.

The authors, who have based their theories on Jung and Myers-Briggs Type-Indicator (MBTI), believe your personality type can change the way you follow a spiritual practice.  This is sound reasoning.

Centered in MBTI, the authors explore how different types follow different spiritual paths in an effort that supports seekers in their search for a vibrant, or deeper, spiritual path with new meaning and vitality. Personality type is a tool for understanding the different ways people take in information and make decisions about it. Basically, they asked hundreds of people of various backgrounds and traditions, two questions:

  • What draws you toward God, faith or spirituality?
  • What pushes you away?

Let’s first explore Jungian theory that we have natural preferences for how we:

- gain energy (Extroversion/Introversion)

- take in information (Sensing/Intuition)

- make decisions (Thinking/Feeling)

- approach life (Judging/Perceiving)

Though these preferences are innate, we are also influenced by our families or tribe, education and culture, and so on.

Carl Jung said…

“People from all the civilized countries of the earth have consulted me.  I have treated many hundred of patients.  Among all my patients in the second half of life – that is to say, over thirty-five, there has not been one whose problem in the last resort was not that of finding a religious outlook on life.  It is safe to say that everyone one of them fell ill because he had lost that which the living religions of every age have given to their followers, and none of them has been really healed who did not regard his religious outlook.”

In a nutshell the following chart provides a synopsis about the fundamental theories of Jung and the MBTI as relevant to a greater understanding of SoulType:

Extraversion

or

Introversion

Sensing

or

Intuition

Thinking

or

Feeling

Judging

or

Perceiving

Our Pathway to Energy

Our Pathway to Discovery

Our Pathway to Decisions

Our Pathway to Soulwork

Extraverts are energized through contact with other people or through engaging in activities.  Introverts are energized through the world of ideas, pulling back from activities to allow time for thought and reflection Sensing types pay attention to what they perceive through their five senses – seeing, hearing, touching, smelling and tasting. Intuitive types pay attention to what might be described as their sixth sense – the unseen world of meanings, inferences, hunches, insights and connections. Thinking types base their decisions on impartial criteria – cause-effect reasoning, constant principles or truths, and logical analysis. Feeling types consider the impact of their decisions on people – their needs and those of others, the values to be served and circumstantial or community variables. Judging types like to order their lives – plan ahead, wrap things up, & accomplish set goals. Perceiving types like to live life as it unfolds – keep their options open and enjoy what comes along.

You may have guessed that according to this matrix … yes, I profess to BEing an INFP.  Having said that, it is clear that in certain circumstances I might draw on each of E, S, T or J…. you just have to love the alphabet and acronyms.

Though the authors point out that Type is only a tool for understanding and learning how to manage your spiritual life in a more meaningful way, it can improve communication, emphasize the value of diversity, identify potential conflicts and offers an appropriate language to deal with emotional or stressful issues.  The key insights generally explore strategies for growth and development over the span of life, and from my perspective, is most helpful in enriching one’s soulwork… the spiritual journey of discovery.

The book offers excellent case studies, exercises and prayers to round out the read.

“Have confidence in the truth, although you may not be able to comprehend it, although you may suppose its sweetness to be bitter, although you may shrink from it at first, trust in the truth… have faith in the truth and live it.” ~ Buddha Dhammapada

What TYPE are you?  I welcome emails and encourage you to let me know what you believe… what you have learned… and what you are willing to commit to as you continue to discover the secret garden of your soul.

Post-blog note: Unearthing these sweet memories has rekindled another long held desire… I’ve always wanted to go to Peru… Machu Picchu here I come!  It makes perfect sense that my eldest son married a lovely young woman whose wonderful parents have made their life’s purpose as archeologists, the uncovering of the hidden truths of ancient Peruvians.  In fact, there is a museum in their name… perhaps I’ll volunteer for their next dig?  The truth of interconnectedness is my BLISS.
